Baby elephants drink their mothers milk regularly for up to two years, sometimes longer. Guzzling down up to 3 gallons of milk a day, their first year is completely dependent on their mother providing all their daily nutrients. At about 4 to 6 months they will start to try out different foods and gradually over the years will have a varied diet.
