"If it weren’t for people like Orozco and eventually Siqueiros, we wouldn’t have the Jackson Pollock that we all know and love,” explains assistant curator Marcela Guerrero of Vida Americana: Mexican Muralists Remake American Art, 1925–1945. Opening at the Whitney in February 2020, this landmark exhibition focuses on the influence of Mexico’s three leading muralists—José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, and David Alfaro Siqueiros—on the style, substance, and direction of art in the United States.
