#OTD in 1973, the U. S. Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, was disestablished, the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam, and Hanoi released the last of its acknowledged prisoners of war. The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act (Public Law 115-15) was signed into law in 2017, designating March 29 of each year as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
